Volunteering at Rainbow

Rainbow H.E. Events is run by a small core team, supported by volunteers who help make the festival run smoothly for everyone. Whether you enjoy being hands-on, working behind the scenes or sharing something you love with others, there are several ways to get involved.

You can apply for one role or multiple roles, depending on your interests and availability.

Volunteer Roles

Event Team

Event Team volunteers are the friendly, visible helpers around the site. This role suits people who like variety and don’t mind pitching in where needed.

Typical tasks may include:

  • Helping with arrivals and departures
  • Answering questions and pointing people in the right direction
  • Supporting welfare or access needs
  • Cleaning on site facilities

Shifts are spread across the week so you still get plenty of time to enjoy the event.

Production

Production volunteers help with the tech side of running an event. This role is ideal if you’re interested in working behind the scenes in live music, theatre, stage management and all aspects of putting on a live show.

This can involve:

  • Set-up and pack-down
  • Helping with staging, sound or lighting
  • Moving equipment
  • Supporting evening events
  • Providing tech support for the cinema
  • Stage management

Some Production roles are more physical than others, and we’ll always match tasks to what you’re comfortable doing.

First Aid

First Aid volunteers provide essential support to keep everyone safe during the week.

This role is suitable for people with:

  • A valid first aid qualification
  • Experience working with families and children
  • A calm, confident approach

You’ll be part of a wider team and able to work on your own but with the support of a coordinator.

Activity Host

Activity Hosts run sessions and activities for children, young people and/or families. Sessions are usually repeated during the week so everyone gets a chance to participate.

Activities might include:

  • Creative or practical workshops
  • Games, sports or movement
  • Discussion groups or interest-based sessions
  • Live talks on the small stage

Activity Hosts will need an assistant over the age of 18. They can help manage materials, support younger children and assist where needed for the session.
